Development of Kelulut Honeybees Becomes PLN Energi Gas’s Flagship Social and Environmental Responsibility Program
North Samarinda, 19 December 2024 – In an effort to support community empowerment and environmental conservation, PT PLN Energi Gas held a ceremonial handover of aid as part of its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program for the development of kelulut honeybee farming. This aid was provided to the Rawat Hijau Business Group, located in Lempake, North Samarinda.
This event is part of PT PLN Energi Gas’s flagship TJSL Program, which aims to support local community initiatives in creating sustainable economic opportunities while preserving the environment. The event was attended by the President Director of PT PLN Energi Gas, Mr. Edwin Bangun, along with the Corporate Secretary of PLN EG, Ms. Evi Purnama Sari; the Acting Manager of the Tanjung Batu Unit, Mr. Sutio Bayu Prakoso; and members of PT PLN Energi Gas’s management team from both the headquarters and the Tanjung Batu Unit.
In addition, the event was also attended by local community leaders, including the RT Head, the Lempake Village Head, representatives from the North Samarinda Subdistrict, and the Chairman of the Rawat Hijau Business Group, Mr. Heri, along with his members. The presence of these various parties reflects the synergy between PT PLN Energi Gas, the local government, and the community in promoting the development of environmentally conscious local businesses.

Kelulut honeybee farming has great potential to be developed as an environmentally friendly business with high economic value,” said Edwin Bangun. - Beekeeping Equipment: The Rawat Hijau Business Group receives modern equipment specifically designed for kelulut honeybee beekeeping, including hive boxes, honey harvesters, and other supporting equipment.
- Technical Training: Group members receive intensive training on kelulut honeybee farming techniques, ranging from bee care and honey harvesting to product management to ensure high market value.
- Ongoing Mentoring: PT PLN Energi Gas provides a mentoring program to ensure the success of the farming operations. This support includes periodic monitoring, technical consultations, and product marketing assistance.
