PLN Energi Gas Strengthens Corporate Governance Through GCG Awareness Assessment
Jakarta, 20 April 2026 – PT PLN Energi Gas has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the implementation of good corporate governance through the organization of a Good Corporate Governance (GCG) Awareness Assessment event. The event was attended by members of the Board of Directors, the Board of Commissioners, and management, and served as a key milestone in enhancing the company’s understanding and readiness to face increasingly comprehensive GCG assessments.
The event aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of GCG assessment parameters while ensuring alignment with national and international standards, including the Annual Report Award (ARA) and the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS), which are based on the principles of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
In his opening remarks, the President Director of PT PLN Energi Gas, Mr. Edwin Bangun, emphasized that the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles is the cornerstone of ensuring the company’s sustainability. According to him, the principles of transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and equality must become a living culture throughout the entire organization.
“The implementation of GCG principles is not merely an administrative obligation, but a cornerstone in ensuring the company is managed ethically, efficiently, and sustainably. Strong GCG will drive value creation while strengthening stakeholder trust,” said Edwin Bangun.
Furthermore, he emphasized that PLN Energi Gas continues to adapt to the latest regulatory developments and governance standards. This is reflected in the company’s commitment to adopting policies that align with regulations from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, as a step to ensure corporate governance remains relevant and in line with best practices.
“We continue to ensure that our governance practices not only meet applicable regulations but also address dynamic business challenges and the ever-evolving expectations of our stakeholders,” he added.
On this occasion, the CEO also highlighted the importance of conducting a GCG assessment as a strategic evaluation tool. He emphasized that the assessment should be viewed as a means for reflection and continuous improvement, not merely a formality.
“The GCG assessment is an objective metric for gauging the extent to which we consistently apply governance principles. It is not merely a formality, but an opportunity to identify potential weaknesses and strengthen areas that still need improvement,” he explained.
As part of its efforts to improve governance quality, PLN Energi Gas is also strengthening its GCG assessment parameters. Whereas previously two parameters were used, for the 2025 fiscal year the assessment has been expanded to include three main parameters: ACGS, the Indonesian General Guidelines on Corporate Governance (PUG-KI), and the Financial Services Authority Circular (SE-OJK).
“The strengthening of these parameters reflects rising standards and expectations regarding the quality of corporate governance. Therefore, the readiness and understanding of all company personnel are key to the successful implementation of GCG,” said Edwin.
During this event, it was also explained that the ACGS emphasizes increased transparency, accountability, and the protection of the rights of shareholders and other stakeholders. Meanwhile, the PUG-KI, issued by the National Governance Policy Committee (KNKG), promotes an “apply or explain” approach, which encourages companies to adopt governance principles or provide an explanation if they cannot yet be fully implemented.
On the other hand, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulations use a “comply or explain” approach, which emphasizes both compliance and transparency in reporting. All of these implementations will be reflected in the Annual Report and will form an important part of the ARA assessment.
This event also served as a forum for knowledge-sharing with a team of professional assessors, which is expected to provide new insights and strengthen practical understanding of GCG implementation within PLN Energi Gas.
Concluding his remarks, the President Director expressed his hope that all company employees would share the same commitment to implementing excellent corporate governance.
“With thorough preparation and a shared commitment, we are not only able to meet assessment standards but also build a foundation for strong, adaptive, and sustainable corporate governance,” he concluded.
